Bank Reconciliation
Bank reconciliation matches your actual bank transactions to the entries in your accounting records. Ledger makes this fast by suggesting matches automatically.
The reconcile screen
Go to Banking → [Account Name] → Reconcile. You’ll see:
- Statement transactions — from your bank (imported or manually entered)
- Ledger entries — invoices, bills, journals that haven’t been matched yet
Matching transactions
Ledger suggests matches based on amount and date. Click Match to confirm a suggestion, or drag a statement transaction onto a Ledger entry to match manually.
Creating entries from bank transactions
If a statement transaction has no matching Ledger entry (e.g. a bank fee), click Spend Money or Receive Money to create the accounting entry inline. Select the expense or revenue account and Ledger posts the journal entry.
Bulk reconciliation
Check multiple rows and click Bulk Match to confirm several matches at once. Useful for payroll or batch payments.
Finishing a reconciliation
When all transactions are matched, click Finish Reconciling. Ledger locks the period and shows a green reconciled badge on the account.
